In the area of RFID and traceability, I have done several projects for time2trace, a company focusing exclusively on consultancy and projects around RFID technology.

These projects include:

• Supply chain division of large retail group - RFID system in distribution centre, 2008-2011
End to end maintenance of a system for meat crate tracking and RFID based supplier reception process. Maintenance and enhancement of the hardware, system and software architecture. The system tracks meat crates from suppliers, through the distribution centre, to the shipping to the supermarkets. It provides a reception system for meat products which unlike other products include a weighing step. The system auto-identifies pallets based on RFID reads matched against an Advanced Shipping Notice (DESADV). The system interfaces with enterprise systems for master data, stock management, third party system for crate treatment (b2b interface), The system interfaces with weighing scale hardware, uses a web app on rugged touchscreen PCs for reception process guidance, and drivers label printers. • Spare parts stock tracking, 2010-2011
System and software architecture, development and implementation of a system for tracking the inventory of a spare parts stock room of a division of a large pharmaceutical company. The system individually tracks spare parts starting with the commissioning of the RFID tags based upon excel exports from the legacy stock management system, through RFID label printing. Each part is tracked through an RFID setup which autodetects the parts and shows this on a GUI to be completed with work order and person data. All movements' totalisations are reported back to the legacy stock management system. A mobile RFID device wirelessly connected to the application, allows to perform stock inventories. Technologies include: Java, Oracle DB, Hibernate, Eclipse RCP GUI, OSGi based reader driver service, LLRP, .net compact framework 3.5, C#, Nordic ID mobile RFID reader (Win CE), Toshiba TEC SX5 RFID label printer, Impinj Speedway Revolution RFID reader, GPIO module, door switch, motion detector, near field and far field antennas.
• Library management system - UHF RFID integration, 2009
System and software architecture, development and implementation of an extention module for integrating UHF Gen2 RFID in an existing library management system written in ASP.net for a Lawyer company. The system already contained an interface to HF RFID devices linked to a checkin/checkout GUI, but the UHF extention we added is fully automatic, and does a best effort fully automatic registration of book loans by matching book reads to person ID reads (UHF tag added to person badge) and guess direction for antenna configuration. Technlogies include: .net, C#, C# based reader driver service, ASP, MS SQL DB, Motorola RFID reader, near and far field antennas, Nordic mobile RFID reader for inventory updates.
• Seafood producer - RFID frontend for ERP, 2009
System and software architecture, development and implementation of a front end for the Navision ERP software, which allows the capturing in process of crate IDs for the construction of a DESADV electronic notice for the retail company's distribution centre. Technlogies include: .net, C#, XML file interface, one by one portal with Impinj RFID reader, LLRP, Nordic mobile RFID reader for alternative backup process.

System and software architecture, development and implementation of a front end for an AS/400 based ERP software, which allows the capturing in process of crate IDs for the construction of a DESADV electronic notice for the retail company's distribution centre. Application running on the smart reader, using barcode scanning and large LED dot matrix display as human interface. Technlogies include: java, AS/400 API in java, pallet at once portal with Intermec RFID reader and narrow beam antennas, Intermec BRI api, RS232 barcode scanner connected to the Intermec RFID reader.

System and software architecture, development and implementation of an extention module for integrating UHF Gen2 RFID in an existing management software for tracking rented materials to and from customers. Technlogies include: java, web services, MS SQL DB, Multiple portals with Alien and later Impinj RFID readers, Nordic mobile RFID reader for commissioning and inventory updates.
• Car constructor R&D centre - confidential asset tracking, 2008
System and software architecture, development and implementation of a full system for tracking of confidential assets such as portable PCs, cameras, documents. The RFID system guards the secure zone and alerts staff about possible uncautious behavior by sounding different types of alarm signals when the system detects an asset not matching the person going in or out. The system interfaces to the regular access badge reader system for capturing passing staff member. Distributed application partly running on the Smart readers. Web client allows access from remote PCs. Desktop reader for commissioning tags and linking ownership to staff. Technlogies include: java, Google Web Toolkit, Spring, Eclipse Virgo application server, OSGi, MySQL DB, Multiple portals with Intermec RFID readers, Caen USB desktop reader, Moxa RS232 device servers interfacing to G4S badging system.
• Pharmaceutical company - pilot: product identification in production process, 2008
System and software architecture, development and implementation of a pilot system for individual identification of pharmaceutical items for eye care, at different step of the production and packaging process. The RFID label needed to survive extreme circumstances including a sterilization process based on steam and vacuum, and cooling in refrigerators. The RFID system is a front end for the production planning system running on AS/400 based on RPG. The RFID reading module is implemented on Intermec IF61 smart readers and on an IP30 mobile reader, and used a Java API for AS400 to receive reading request and feedback the data via AS400 data queues. The fixed reader is used in a portal reading process, and in a one-by-one reading process. Technlogies include: java, java micro edition with SWT on windows mobile, Multiple portals with Intermec RFID readers, interfacing to AS/400 based enterprise system via JTopen library. Reliable session layer implemented on top of DTAQ.

I am co-founder of Zampass, a startup company in the field of crowd management on festivals and events. Its goals is to capture all personal and/or ticket or voucher identification data on festivals and events for admission control for the public, zone control for crew, for general crowd management and all related aspects. The company started beginning of 2010 with a few large events as pilot projects, and is slowly expanding to more festivals and to smaller commercial and company events.

Some of the major projects till now:

• Rock Werchter 2010 and 2011
Rock Werchter was the pilot project. It aimed to do all scanning, including the entrance ticket validation of the audience, food&drinks voucher validation, camping ticket validation on site at the campings, crew participation voucher validation with automatic wristband printing, crew tracking through the zones on site based on the scanning of the wristband, and crew parking voucher validation. Audience tickets are obtained by synchronizing with the ticketing company; for the crew vouchers, a registration system with online registration of teams and firms crew was implemented, with downloadable admission voucher. For the event production staff a data management and reception desk application. Technlogies include: Java, MS SQL server, Hibernate, OSGi, Eclipse RCP and RAP, Barcode scanning, .net compact framework, C#, Nordic ID API, Nordic ID WinCE based hand scanners of which nearly 150 online and scanning on peak moments, pervasive private Wifi network and multiple access points in the field, including 3G based access point on the isolated audience campings. Multiple Juniper and Digi VPN appliances, creating VPN to the central servers in data centre. All scanners are connected via VPN to the scanning service running on central servers. • Tomorrowland 2010 and 2011, crew registration and scanning
A similar setup as described above was set up for the zone admission scanning of the crew. In 2011 we added catering scanning as another scanning type based on the crew wristbands.
• Concerts audience ticket scanning
On several concerts we did audience ticket validation scanning, on several locations including Koning Boudewijnstadion, Sportpaleis, Lottoarena. Since fall 2011 all concerts in Sportpaleis and Lotto arena.
